And One for Good Luck! (Stripes Day 5)

Alright, I'll be honest, I never actually wore this out in public.
I had it planned out to wear to a friend's birthday when the weather turned ridiculously warm, but instead it was freezing cold and I realized it was a tad too short. But I had too much fun taking them not to post them.
Don't worry, this dress won't be seen again! It's made it's way to the swap pile

Stripes: Day 2

Wednesday already? Awesome.
More gorgeous weather here! For my second day of stripes I decided to be a bit more "spring-y" and opted for an open heel and a light cardigan and tank.
Would you even classify this as a cardigan? Hmmm...

necklace - Gift (Xmas 2011); "cardigan" - Smart Set (2010); tunic - Dynamite (2007);
jeans - AE (2012);  heels - Spring (2010)

Stripes: Day 1

I had no idea that "super stripes week" would be taking place in the middle of a heat wave!
Let's just say that by 4pm yesterday, I was seriously regretting my outfit choice.

Church Time

Last night I went to mass for Santa Lucia patron Saint of the Blind.
Now I'm not a religious person - I like to think of myself as more of a spiritual individual - but I did enjoy myself. My young cousins on the other hand did not.
It reminded me so much of when I was younger and dragged to church every Sunday with my mother. I hated it. And it probably has something to do with my current dislike of organized religion. But this got me thinking about time.

When you're young, time seems to stretch on forever. You can't wait for the next day to come and you feel like it always takes an eternity to get here. Maybe that accounts for why they find church so excruciatingly long? As an adult on the other hand, time just flies. There are never enough hours in a day to accomplish everything you plan to, and you dread the next day and the additional tasks it will bring. The hour one spent in church is nothing more than a blip at this point and seems far less boring. You listen to the stories, and the time passes quickly, rendering it far more tolerable.
Does that make sense?

What I wore to church last night...

Grey & Brown

Neutrals week continues!
Nope, I haven't forgotten, I've just been so freaking tired lately that all I want to do when I get home is sleeeeeeeep.
It seems that no matter how much I get, I could always use more... does anyone else ever feel like this?

Anyhoo... Tuesday was Grey:
2011-12-06 grey
tee - Esprit (2011); cardigan - Jacob (2011);
pants - Max/Miley (2009); boots - Thrifted (2008)

And Wednesday was Brown:
2011-12-08 brown
tee - F21 (2011); cardigan - Jacob (2008); skinnies - Smart Set (2010);
boots - Sirens (2010)

I'll be sure to update my closet tomorrow... but right now.. you guessed it! Sleep!

BT & The First Snowfall

I'm really confused.

I live in Canada, so you think people would be used to the crazy amounts of snow we get every winter, right? So why is it that for some reason, come first snowfall, everyone just kind of forgets how to drive?

You should see the number of cars in the ditch... hilarious... until of course one spins out and comes your way.

And no, I didn't wear this today... heels, tights & short sleeves do not mix well with a first snow fall! This is from a few days back...

dress - Dynamite (2011); tights - Hue (2010); belt - Dynamite (2011);
heels - Aldo (2010)

Keeping: tights, belt & heels
Debating: this dress, I've only worn it once before now.

And once again... no "Ways I've Worn" because as I've said, this baby's only been pulled out once before! Hmmmm, it's a good thing I'm doing this challenge!

BT: Weekend Fun & A Love Affair

SWAMPED!

Or at least that's how I feel at work lately. It's only Tuesday and I already feel like I've worked more than a week. I have a feeling I will be in serious need of vacation come Christmas.

The little bits of fun I've been having in between are welcome changes. Last Saturday we had a lovely dinner at the Best Friend's place out in Woodlawn, followed by drunken "Just Dance" on the Wii. If you haven't played yet, you have no idea what you're missing. You look so ridiculous trying to mimic the avatar on the screen you can't help but laugh at yourself :)
Last night the BF and I went for Indian at the East India Company on Somerset - by FAR the best indian food in Ottawa, and they have buffet so if you're new to the experience there's lots for you to try. I'm in love with their Veg Korma. I asked it if it wanted to date, but apparently it has a lot of suitors and wasn't ready to settle down. That's okay, as long as it has time for me at least once a month.

Still keeping up with my Challenge too :) I'll EVENTUALLY have a spreadsheet - but that requires free time.

Buried Treasures: The Shop My Closet Challenge

It just so happens that today is the 2 year anniversary of my lil' ol' blog. You can partake in my embarrassment here. They grow up so fast, don't they?

I was planning on doing a year in review, but (if we haven't noticed by my lack of posts lately...) I am short on spare time, and while I'd LOVE to go through all my old pictures and put together a little montage-y thing for you, I know I'd just be making a promise I can't keep.

I DO on the other hand have a new challenge that I will be starting today :)
If you're addicted to the shopaholic series of books (a super quick & fun read!) you already know that in the most recent installment Rebecca Brandon (née Bloomwood) is on a shopping ban until she wears EVERYTHING in her closet. I have decided to partake in said challenge as well. I already have a spreadsheet (my OCD goes a little crazy here!) of all the items in my closet, so I will be using that as a starting point to make sure EVERYTHING GETS WORN BEFORE I SHOP AGAIN! If I honestly can't make a piece work, it will be donated. I'll make a post dedicated to my spreadsheet eventually for those of you who are also Type A's!

Wish me luck :)

Gimme A "Five!"

Yesterday was SO cold in the morning! That's my excuse for my outfit being very "blah" yesterday. I have lots of styling ideas jotted down, but not many that involve pants, which presents a bit of a problem when I'm feeling uninspired in the mornings. Looking back now, a scarf or some bolder accessories would have definitely helped this outfit out a bit.
The forgotten piece below is the cardigan, and I think after another wear or two this one might be ready for the donate pile.

cardigan - F21 (2008)
tee - Joe Fresh (2010)
skinnies - Gap (2010)
studded flats - Aldo (2010)

These flats were only $20 and one of the 2 pairs I purchased instead of my LeCaros. They're not super flashy or anything, but a great basic to slip on and they coordinate with practically everything.

And for some reason I look like I was trying to be a cheerleader.

Marching On

Yes, I've been a bad blogger and far too caught up in this this crazy thing I lovingly refer to as my life. Oh, and I couldn't move for a few days due to over-exertion at the gym. Yes, I am dumb.
BUT! I have been sticking to my challenge, so here's Day 4!

vest - F21 (2009)
dress - Ricki's (2007)
wedges - Aldo (gift, bday 2010)

Now that I'm looking at these pictures, I have NO IDEA why I never wear this dress. It's a super cute basic. I bought it for a company Christmas party ages ago, and had it in my mind that it was more of a holiday/party dress.... clearly this is not the case at all and it will definitely be brought out more often!

I feel a little like Audrey Hepburn... but it may just be the turtleneck.

Day 3 brought about a whole bunch of unworn pieces! And I got so many compliments :) This cardigan was bought and worn maybe once or twice, don't ask why. The blouse used to be a go-to for dancing with some blinging jewelery, but once I realised how gigantic it made my chest look, I stopped wearing it. The skirt was a purchase a couple months back and never made it into my rotation for some reason.
It's amazing what a little bit of red will do to brighten someone's day!
cardigan - Costa Blanca (2008)
blouse - Guess (2007)
skirt - Jacob (2010)
flats - F21 (2008)

Cropped Vesty Goodness

No fancy, long winded stories today, just some pictures! Today I'm showcasing this lovely cropped knit vest. The proportions are kind of odd, and my boobies are kind of large and it has no closures, so I never think to wear it. That and it serves no real purpose except to be a decorative layering piece. But it's cute, so I can never bring myself to give it away!

vest - Old Navy (2008)
tee - Dynamite (2007)
pants - Gap (2010)
wedges - Aldo (2010)
necklace - Spring (2010)

And lookie what came in the mail today!
Are they keepers?
I dunno... I think i ordered them a size too big and they don't carry them in stores to test them out. Pro? Real leather and super cute! Con? $150, and kind of slouchy... is anyone else seeing the bunching in the leather or is that just my critical eye?

And it begins!

So today is the first day of my Challenge! The first item I'm remixing is this tank top. I bought it AGES ago when I decided I wanted to girly-up my image. I used to skateboard a bit in high school and my style really reflected that - baggy jeans, tees with clever sayings, skate shoes - but about half way through college, and long after I'd given up my board, I decided I wanted to branch out and give the feminine thing a try. It was still a long time before I became partial to skirts, but this dressy tank was a good starting point. It's a black silky material and has gold and silver big embroidered flowers all over it. (I now wish I had a better picture, but perhaps I'll update this post later.)
It's been unworn for the LONGEST time because while I still like looking feminine, I hated the cut. It always showed way too much boobage and has a bubble hem... which kinda makes me look chubs. So to remix & remedy I added another tank underneath and tucked it into a high waisted skirt to get rid of the bubbling.

cardigan - Zara (summer 2010)
tank - Dynamite (2005)
pencil skirt - Smart Set (summer 2010)
mary janes - (spring 2010)
lariat - Dynamite (summer 2010)
