Whatcha doin? Nothin, chillin at the holiday iiinnnnn

Still a crazy week... I promise things will get more frequent and interesting once I get through this last little bit of the year!

Worn Wed, Mar. 24th:
Where? Class Presentations
sweater - Esprit (2009)
blouse - Ricki's (2008)
jeans - Smart Set (2008)

Worn Sat, Mar. 27th:
Where? Trent Business Formal
dress - Guess (2006)
cardigan - Costa Blanca (2007)
heels - Urban Behaviour (2010)
earrings - Pickering Flea Market (2010)

So my picture taking skills SUCK. How did i not manage to get a full length pic during the evening? No idea. That first photo is from me randomly taking pictures trying to decide what to wear. Go team me.
Anyhoo, the handsome devil in that second pic is the boy... ain't we cute? The night turned out to be a blast. I was skeptical after last year, it was at a bar, but this year they had it in the ballroom of the Holiday Inn, complete with prom-esque photo ops and limo service. Go Trent Business.

P.S. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!

Faking Chambray

Last 2 weeks of class!
So of course you understand the absence, right? Right?! Good.
Anyhoo, I have pictures from last week that I still haven't shared... so maybe I should get on that.

Worn Mon, Mar. 22nd:

men's shirt - Banana Republic thrifted @ Sympathy(2010)
long sleeved tee - F21 (2009)
jeans - Urban Behaviour (2008)
heels - Urban Behaviour (2010)

I'm loving the chambray look that everyone's been sporting lately. Of course I don't do it nearly as well as This Time Tomorrow... but I try! This is actually a blue oxford and not chambray at all, but i thought it was close enough in color that I could fake it... I guess EVERYONE'S caught onto this trend at this point and the only sizes left at the thrift stores are large. boo.

Sunnier Days

This weekend I went home to Ottawa and it was crazy eventful. My grandmother decided she wanted to buy another investment property, so we traveled all over looking at model homes until we decided on a cute little townhouse in Barhaven, just south of Ottawa. The best part? I'll get to rent it out when I move back until I'm done my accounting program, which will take another two years. This is INCREDIBLY sweet of Gma and I love her to death. Everything's coming up Mel-house.
(I hope someone gets the Simpson reference... and you don't all think I'm nuts.)

On another note, I'm not quite sure what the freak hail-storm today was about, but I'm not impressed. Not impressed at all.
So I will leave with photos of sunnier days in wishful thinking that the rest of the week will shape up!

trench - simons (2006)
cardigan - QED London (2010)
tee - H&M (2009)
jeans - Urban Behavior (2008)
heels - Urban Behavior (2010)

sunnies - Pickering Flea Market (2010)
cropped cardi - suzy shier (2008)
dress - via Shop Exile Style (mine since 2010)
boots - thrifted @ Sympathy for the Rebel (2010)

pulling things out of the back of the closet...

Happy St. Patrick's Day and all that jazz...
I'm not going to lie, I'm kind of over the whole lets get drunk and act foolish thing, but unfortunately my friends haven't, which doesn't leave me with too much to do today. Stupid "holiday." Ah well, it IS after all the last month of my University career, so maybe i should start a paper or two? Yeah, maybe.

Worn Thurs, Mar. 11th:

blazer - Ricki's (2009)
dress - DVF (ebay 2008)
socks - Ardene (2010)
boots - Franco Sarto (2009)

This dress is another piece I purchased and never wore... that's one of the great things about personal style blogs, after a while they kind of force you to dig into the back of your closet and pull out things you thought would never work for you.

Rain, Rain Go Away

Yesterday was so busy. All morning long we went door to door with Circle K handing out flyers for our annual city-wide food drive. Of course it was incredibly beautiful all week long, and then the day we plan to go do charity work its gray, cold and rainy. Thanks weather. Either way though, it was fun and I managed to get some good exercise in. After that it was an afernoon full of group meetings and catching up on homework. Yay for weekends.

I am also unsure of why everything was underlined all of a sudden.

Worn Tues, Mar. 9th:

vest - H&M (2008)
tee - F21 (2009)
earrings - Flea Market (2008)
"pearls" - Ardene (2006)
jeans - Parasuco for Smart Set (2008)
flats - Payless (2007)

I bought these earrings from a crazy gypsy woman at the Pickering Flea Market. Her booth is SO sparkly you can see it from waaay down the crowded hallway, and every time I go she tells me she's closing down and everything has to go. I know its her selling tool or whatever, but I definitely use it to (what i *think* is at least) my advantage. I ended up getting two pairs for 10$, and considering the fake bling they have going on, I thought that was a pretty sweet deal.
I should probably pay them another visit before I graduate in June and move back to Ottawa! 4 hours is kind of far to travel for cheap jewelry lol.

Danger Girls love Leather Jackets

*Title courtesy of Sir Elton John

I feel like I have been completely spoiled with all the nice weather we've been having. Today it was ACTUALLY warm enough to go out in a blazer with a little hidden cardi underneath (that post will come eventually!). But anyways, that's saying a lot. I'm the individual who brings a sweater when it's 30 degrees** outside, so we're talking nice.

Worn Mon, Mar 8th:
jacket - Danier (Thrifted 2008)
button up - yde (2009)
long sleeved tee - F21 (2009)
belt - Costa Blanca (2009)
jeans - Guess (2007)
flats - Aldo (2009)

This outfit actually came about because I'm out of clean clothes. A lot of my outfits this week are kind of a random jumble. But anyhoo, I thrifted this jacket way back in the fall of 2008 and had NEVER worn it. So while it's kind of an off combination, I thought it went enough to wear the jacket.

And it actually worked out quite well that I was in jeans and flats considering this is what transpired at Circle K that day:
Good Times.

**EDIT: Celsius! I should probably start specifying, eh? (That's the Canadian in me coming out!) So 10 is around 50 and 30 would be close to 86 Fahrenheit.

spring is in the air

This past weekend was so incredibly gorgeous! It was around 8 degrees and SO sunny! Its finally starting to feel a lot like spring, you can just smell it. And thank god. I am definitely over being constantly cold, and I have a lot of super cute spring jackets I can't wait to bust out!
These pictures are kind of deceiving though... while us Canadians DO think its spring as soon as the weather stays above zero for a week, I was NOT as crazy as some and actually wore my winter coat.

Worn Sat, Mar. 6th:

sweater - American Eagle (2006)
tee - Dynamite (2007)
jeans - F21 (2009)
boots - Steve Madden (2007)

Worn Sun, Mar 7th:

sweater - Smart Set (2009)
tee - The Funky Buddha (2007)
belt - Dynamite (2007)
pants - H&M (2008)
boots - Thrifted (2010)

Spring Shoes Boycott?

I'm really sad. My beloved over the knee boots that I have been waiting patiently for just simply aren't coming.

I wouldn't be so frustrated except for the fact that they were ordered over 2 weeks ago, and I'm just finding this out now... and all they said was "whoops, our bad." no explanation, no I'm sorry, no omigosh come in and we'll refund you... nothing. I'm now on hold with customer services.
I feel like I have every reason to be upset. This is a store I shop at on an almost weekly basis. The girls recognize me when I come in for gosh sakes, and they couldn't be a lil more apologetic? Whatever happened to good customer service?
I think a Peterborough Spring Shoes Boycott is in order.

a laid back kinda post

It's been a pretty chills kind of week. I feel like for the first time in months I can actually take a moment to sit back, relax, and enjoy myself. AND The weather's finally starting to warm up, I think it was actually 5 degrees out today :) Yay for March!

On the flip side though, I've been without a camera since Monday, so I've been hesitant to post because... well then that's it. lol. But its been a while... maybe I'll end up doing a closet post or something along those lines instead... hmmm indeed.
