hidden treasures

I'm thinking that these are probably the last of my "scenic" posts from Peterborough. Yeah... I kinda dropped the ball on that one, didn't I? Well what can I say, I'm not nearly as artsy as I had hoped.

Anyway, this time I ventured just north of Trent to the Trent/Severn waterway locks. They haven't re-flooded the river yet, and the rock beds were so pretty I couldn't resist. If ya squint real hard at that pic you can see the locks...

Worn Mon, Apr. 19th:

hoops - flea market (2010)
blouse - Mom's.. but now appropriated!
jeans - Dynamite (2007)
flats - Steve Madden (2009)

I really love this shirt. I found it in the basement last weekend when I was home in Ottawa cleaning out what used to be the "play-room." APPARENTLY we thought this was a piece to play dress up with. *sigh* if only i knew then what I know now...
My mother purchased this gorgeous silk piece back in the 70s from The Bay... if only the tag hadn't been ripped out! Anyhoo, I'm quite certain this will make its way into my regular rotation!

winding down

My last exam in University EVER takes place in an hour. Go team me.
Then the next few days will be spent packing, purging, and cleaning. It's hard to believe I only have a week left in Peterborough, but I'm definitely ready to start fresh.
I will definitely need to find some extra curriculars as well, because lord knows I won't really know anyone.... I'm incredibly athletically challenged, so maybe a sewing or art class of some sort? Anyone have any advice for random hobbies they've tried and fallen in love with? I'm open to almost anything at this point!

Worn Mon, Apr. 12:

trench - Costa Blanca (2007)
button down - Suzy Shier (2010)
belt - Costa Blanca (2006)
jeans - Urban Planet (2008)
flats - Suzy Shier (2009)

Worn Wed, Apr. 14th:cropped "leather" jacket - Suzy Shier (2010)
sunnies - Juicy Couture (2010)
tee - Dynamite (2010)
capris - Le Chateau - (2008)
wedges - Fergie (2009)

I'm really disappointed I didn't get more pictures of this outfit/location. I was at the marina in Del Creary Park and it was SO pretty out, but definitely the wrong time of day in terms of sunlight and people :(
So when exactly IS the best time of day? That isn't 7 in the morning of course....

Home for the Weekend

The list of stores I'm boycotting is getting ridiculously long. lol. I'm NOT a bitch, and I'm NOT hard to please when it comes to customer service. In fact, I'm pretty much a sales person's best friend. If you tell me something looks good on me, or if I buy a second item, this one's 50%, you have me sold.
I LOVE to shop in actual stores and have conversations about items and share my love or thoughts about pieces with others... so when i walk into a store and there are 5 people working on a sunday afternoon, and I'm your only customer, but instead you're all huddled around the cash register gossiping and giving sideways glances at my outfit (disapprovingly at that!) I feel like I have every right to contact your manager and spread the news about how evil your store is.
That's right, I'm talking about you LE CHATEAU in COLLEGE SQUARE, OTTAWA! Your service was crap, and I was prepared to drop a pretty penny, so instead i walked accross the street to the Guess Outlet and spent my hard earned money there instead :)

Now, the only time I worked in clothing retail was a summer at Dynamite ( i looooved it btw! so in my element... ), so if I'm asking too much, someone please tell me off and explain to me what customer service is like at your store. I just feel like the people who doen'treally enjoy what they're doing shouldn't be there.... but maybe thats just me?

On a much lighter note, here's another random outfit! I will be SOOO sad to leave Sympathy for the Rebel in Peterborough... I will definitely need to find myself an Ottawa alternative when I move back next month....or who knows? Maybe one day open my own boutique along those same lines? A girl can dream, right?

Worn Thurs, Apr. 8th:cardi - QED London (2010)
tee - H&M (2009)
skirt - thrifted @ Sympathy for the Rebel (2010)

kitten heels - Suzy Shier (2008)

And just because I'll be bleaving my milo-kittan again for 2 weeks, here's some cuteness:
No, tulips do not know how to attack. You're golden kitty.

Still Spinning.

I have an exam to write tomorrow morning at 9am... so instead of studying I'm blog-stalking and updating my own... sounds about right :)
I'm finally getting around to posting my pictures from Easter. Apparently I was very into twirling, but can you blame me with a skirt like this?

Worn Sun, Apr. 4, 2010:

cardigan - Dynamite (2008)
blouse - Dynamite (2010)
skirt - walmart (2009)
flats - Aldo (2009)

Worn Tues, Apr. 6th, 2010:

I also got the proofs for my grad photos recently :) This whole being done thing is really staring to sink in... just 3 more exams and that's it. Crazy.
Maybe I should do that whole studying thing andmake these last few exams count...

Rain, don't bring me down.

Considering the cold and wet weather we've been having the last few days, I felt bright, sunny, happy photos would only be fitting.
Easter weekend J and I took a trip to visit the fam in Ottawa. We spent the day saturday (a crazy 20C) touring model homes, picking finishes, and making food for the next day's festivities.

Worn Sat, Apr. 3rd:
This was taken in the walk in closet of one of the model homes... I just couldn't resist. *sigh* someday.

Nothing's more fun than spinning in the sun...

earrings - hi ho silver (2008)
dress - Urban Behaviour (2009)
cami - Dyanmite (2009)
bracelet - Suzy Shier (2010)

am i really done classes?

More lovely weather! I haven't yet mastered how to take photos in the blaring sunlight yet quite obviously... maybe I should work on that?
On the most wonderful note, I just had my last University class EVER! It's hard to believe I'll be graduating in a little under two months... they say it goes by so fast, and it really does.
*whew* now to catch up with a few outfits...

Worn Wed, Mar. 31st:
Where? Classes

cardigan - Old Navy (2009)
top - Made by Me (2008)
pants- H&M (2008)

Worn Thurs, Apr. 1st:

Yeah I got real creative here apparently and wore something quite similar to the day before... oh well. it happens when you're too lazy to do laundry.

tee - Smart Set (2009)
pants - Michael Kors (mine since 2010)
wedges - Old Navy (2010)

In retrospect I don't like those wedges at all with those pants... ah well. Live and learn.

on the bank of the otonabee

I've realised that I have just under a month left in Peterborough, so I should probably find a few classically peterborough locations to show off in my pictures before I leave.

These were taken on the west bank of the Otonabee River just north of the zoo. It's SO pretty and the weather has been just gorgeous lately so I couldn't resist.

Worn Tues, Mar. 30th:
Where: Classes & Group Meetings

sun glasses - flea market (2010)
cardigan - BCBG (2009)
tee - F21 (2008)
jean skirt - Urban Behaviour (2009)
tights - Ardene (2009)
heels - Guess (2007)

A gentleman in my causes of war class told me my pink shoes didn't go with my jean skirt. I'm not quite sure how something doesn't "go" with jeans, so I have to disagee completely... but you can't help but have the random comments people make about your appearance stick with you. Stupid boys.

Anyhoo, hope you're all having a fabulous long weekend and enjoying the beautiful weather!
