so sick, so sick of being tired and oh so tired of being sick

Ugh. So sorry I have been MIA. Between work tiring me out and this cold I've been fighting off I have just not had the time (or really been in the mood) to keep up :(
The worst part of it all is that I'm so far behind on all of YOUR blogs! Which really isn't like me at all. Even if I don't have time to post I always blog stalk for a bit. I'm going to have to put away a little time for myself every evening so I don't fall behind again! I love it too much!

Worn Mon, June 21st:

tee - Smart Set (2010)
necklace - Smart Set (2010)

lovin' the new job, and an outfit

I am definitely not used to working full time yet. I am so freaking sleepy! Having a little bit of time off just makes me want to nap... that can't be a good thing.
But on a positive note I am totally loving the new job. Training is quick and although I've only been there for 2 days so far I've already learned a little bit of everything... unlike my last clothing retail job where I was there for 3 months and still hadn't been trained on the register. Smart Set at the Rideau Centre is also extremely fast paced as it's right in the market and one of the most popular malls in the city, which is wonderful. I get bored quickly and need to stay busy to keep myself entertained. So far this job seems like a perfect fit.
Anyways, i'm sure there will be lots more to tell in the coming weeks, but for now lets back track a bit and go back to the weekend for an outfit.

Worn Sat, June 19th:

tank - F21 (2009)
wooden bangles - all thrifted (2005-2009)
boyfriend jeans - Guess (2010 - for $27!)

A Stroll Along the Corso

I can't WAIT to start work on Monday. Sure, summer's for lazy days, but I'm running out of things to do around the house! J's taken over the cooking, and while I occasionally help I still feel pretty useless, and cleaning is... well cleaning, and not exactly a super-fun way to pass the time. Thankfully work will start eating up 8 hours of my days and then maybe I'll feel more motivated to partake in my "relaxation activities" such as sewing... which I haven't done much of at all.. because really, what do I need the relaxation from?
J & I did, however, hit up the Italian festival last night which was pretty entertaining. We feasted on pampanella (a spicy porchetta dish) and gelato, and strolled down the "corso" while listening to Italian folk music and gazing longingly at all the Ferraris. I wish I had pictures to share, but clever me forgot the spare battery and of course as soon as I went to turn it on was informed that that just wasn't going to happen. I DO have an outfit picture though!

Worn Fri, June 18th:

top - Dynamite (2010)
skirt - Urban Planet (2009)
necklace - vintage (mine since 2009)
bag - thrifted Marc Jacobs (mine since 2009)
flats - Aldo (2009)

Once again, I realize I need a little more practice with the camera. I will take any photography tips for a plain ol' point and shoot!

Italian festivities

Today I went shoe shopping with the intent of buying something colorful and summery (and flat!) to add to my collection seeing as how most of my shoes are very neutral, an most of my clothing is either black, white or an earth tone. Instead I came back with a pair of white and a pair of brown shoes. Needless to say, I failed at my goal, lol! On a positive note though, both pairs (both American Eagle from Payless) came to a grand total of $24. So I guess in retrospect I didn't fail TOO badly!

I DID however wear wonderfully bright shoes (one of my only pairs besides the pink guess heels that frequent this blog) last Sunday. Seeing as how it was the kick off to Italian Week here in Ottawa, I decided to show a little of my Italian roots with some bright red shoes, (I avoided the green as it's Italian week and I didn't want anyone to think it was Christmas!).

Worn Sun, June 13th:
Where? St. Anthony's Day Parade/Start of Italian Week

cardigan - Costa Blanca (2007)

Aaaand she's back!

Sorry for the absence, I have been having SO much trouble with my Rogers internet service, but a tech came by today, so hopefully all my issues have been resolved for good.
It's just as well though, I've been horrible with the camera and keep forgetting to snap pictures! Ah well, I START WORK (woot woot!) next week, so I'm sure I'll have tons more stylish outfits to take pictures of! But for now, I'll leave you with a few older ones!

Worn Thurs, June 10th:

necklace - Dynamite (2007)
cardi - Smart Set (2009)
tee - Dynamite (2010)
jeans - F21 (2009)
boots - Franco Sarto (2009)

Not a very entertaining outfit, I realize now... very basic. Maybe I'll jazz up this shirt next time with a more colorful tank underneath! But I do love these beads...

Expanding my color palette

Blue is a color I don't own a whole lot of. Navy... sure in a stripe, and I have one pale blue dress I've worn maybe once, and a blueish tank i wear... but blue scares me! Odd, I know, especially considering I have 10 green shirts in a variety of shades, but I was never sure.... I think this outfit may have changed my mind for good though. Who knew interviewing for a new job would help me branch out so much? Now my next task is to pair it with other colors I thought I would never wear, like an orange perhaps... ?

Worn Mon, June 12th:

Bite my Tongue!

A few weeks back I remember complaining about how it got hot way too quickly and I was unable to wear some of my mid-weight clothing... well these past few days things have definitely changed! So let me take that back and pray to the weather gods once more... oh please let it warm up soon! Long sleeves and jackets are just too much for me! I miss my light breezy skirts and platform sandals!

Summer is for BBQs!

Don't mind the playground in the background... For some reason, family parties always end up with random trips to the park. But seriously folks, where were these amazing structures when we were younger? I just remember these giant wood monstrosities with at best a slide, a fireman's pole, and some random swings.

Worn Sat, June 5th:

Convocation!

Last Friday was Convocation!
Although I feel like I was seriously misled by American movies, (no caps! no pomp and circumstance! no valedictorian!) my Graduation was pretty amazing! I had a chance to rock a seriously fabulous dress, all the parental units got to meet up, and our Chancellor (real name Tom Jackson) was Billy Twofeathers from Shining Time Station! Ohhhh early 90's children's shows... how I miss you.
This post is a little picture heavy, but can you blame me?

The girls.... minus my BFF. Damn you for not being a business student! haha.

Receiving congrats from the Chancellor

J & myself!

Fancy scenic shot of the river that runs through campus.

Nonna, myself and mom. haha poor girl forgot her sunscreen!

And of course, my fancy dress made by myself and my grandmother!

Two-fer

Ack! I'm so behind! Haha. I headed up to peterborough for the last couple days to of course celebrate my Convocation! Pics on that soon, but for now I'll catch you up on some older photos!

fedora - Aldo (2010)
silk tee - Zia Carmela's (mine since 2010)
bag - Aldo (2010)
skirt - Urban Behavior (2009)

Can we tell I love the hat?
Haha, and it kinda looks like I smell something funky, but I assure you my backyard smells like a beautiful garden and that is just my lack of photogenic-ness!

Worn Mon, May 31st:

cardigan - Smart Set (2009)
tee - Smart Set (2008)
belt - Aldo (2009)
skirt - Sympathy for the Rebel (2010)
shoes - Spring (2006)

The weather has finally cooled down enough here in Ottawa to bring out some "spring" items before it becomes unbearably hot again. Hopefully it stays this way so I can pull out a few more light jackets and sweaters!
Now off to another family BBQ! Have a great weekend everyone!

Fun with the Fam

Saturday night was my Uncle's 85th birthday party, so while our elders drank and gossiped, us young-adults and kids headed to a nearby park!
