spin that record babe, da da doo doom
I'm finally done the last of my Christmas rounds, and just in time! Now it's time to start preparing for the annual new year's eve party that my mother always throws for the family.
I'm not usually around for this, but Ottawa has been very quiet this winter break. A lot of people are staying with family, and of course Jason is still in Texas, so I decided to add my own flair to the family festivities. Of course I mean I will still dress to the nines, but also that i found, quite possibly the most amazing group game to play for all ages.
And lord knows I love to dance! ... as if the title track is not included though, right?
I'll let you know how that turns out!
In the mean time, lets do a lil lookbook.

Worn Friday, Dec. 25th:
I actually found this skirt christmas eve while picking up some last minute things from walmart and it was only 5$! Go team me!
headband - gift from sis
black sweater - F21
braided belt - thrifted
skirt - walmart
tights - ?
flats - steve madden
bag - marc jacobs
oh this bag! i can't believe it hasnt appeared in pics before! I bought it in Dallas at the most wonderful consignment store I've ever been to, Clothes Circuit. Oh man, that store is orgasm worthy! labels out the butt and most are ACTUALLY affordable! Good ol mark here was about $250, and impeccable condition... and he kinda looks fall 09 with the big shiny hardware, don't he?
All I'm saying is that it's a good thing I don't go to dallas often or I would be one poor little girl.

celebrate good times, come on!
I haven't died, i promise. The internet at my mum's house and I have been engaged in a battle of epic proportions. Hopefully the white knight who just arose on his steed of plastic and metal will put an end to this craziness.
Now lets try this again.....
I hope everyone had an incredibly fabulous Christmas! I know I did! minus of course this awful awful weather boxing day decided to bring... so much for boxing day shopping :( no crowded malls and door crasher deals for this year. Instead I got down to business and did some studying for my upcoming exam.
So leading up to today.... (or yesterday now....)
Worn Wed, Dec. 23:
Busy, busy day... lots of last minute shopping, and a squeezed in doctor's appointment.... *shakes fist* damn you thyroid gland! ...and i had to get blood taken. I know its completely irrational to be 23 and still terrified of needles, but i am.
scarf - gift from mom
cardigan - old navy (now on sale for $17)
tank top - F21
jeans - F21
boots- thrifted, Just Like New
Worn Thurs, Dec 24th:
blazer - Ricki's (on sale now for $39.50)
necklace - Spring
top - h&m
jeans - parasuco for smart set
booties- aldo
Tradition at our house involves going to midnight mass and then coming home to open gifts.
I would complain about the church bit (oh organized religion, how i loathe you), but it's just another excuse to don something cute!

i loved the gold and purple colour combination and am very happy i decided to keep this little shirt dress, even though i promised myself no more black.... just think of all the ways it can be remixed!
I have photos of my christmas day outfit as well, but i figured this is long enough, and I'll have more photos from festivus tonight anyways :)
Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Holiday Dresses for Under $50
So I've been home in Ottawa for less than 24 hours, and I'm already at a loss for things to do. It doesn't help that I'm sans-car either.
I know it isn't even Christmas yet, but i think finding that perfect New Year's Eve dress will put me in a much better mood! And when it comes at a great price, why not get two?
Gold Brocade Tulle Dress, $40, Fred Flare
Sequined Satin Dress, $25, Charlotte Russe
Accordion Pleat Dress, $34, F21
Rouched Sequin Tube Dress, $40, Express
Tootsie Dress, $45, ModCloth
Maggie Halter, $50, Delia's
They're all SO cute, but I'm fairly sure I'm in love with that magenta pleated dress...
But I guess i should probably MAKE plans for NYE first...

procrastination should be my middle name
I had a dream that I owned thigh high boots and they made me very happy.
So now I'm kinda sad.
Oh and the bf goes home to Texas tomorrow too... which is only adding to my sadness.
I guess I should be packing to go home too, but for some reason playing the sims is much more fun.... who'da thunk it?
On the plus side though, the apartment is sparkly clean so besides shove everything into laundry baskets to take home, I don't have that much left to do. I'm so fortunate that I can drive home for the holidays and take whatever I want... I don't envy Jason and his one suitcase at all! When I went to visit his family I had brought two and I could barely close them! "Packing light" is not in my vocabulary. Its incredibly hard with a shoe addiction.
Anyhoo! Onto the outfits!

Lazy Days...
Today's been one of those days when you don't really bother to change into real-girl clothes and instead knock a couple o'chores outta the way.
I managed to wrap a few gifts and write a few christmas cards... those are actually 2 of my favorite things about the holiday season.... does anyone else go slightly crazy in stationary stores? No? Just me? Okay then...

Just a few gifts... they're all the same size to throw off the family... muahahaha.
And I'm pretty sure Milo is convinced all bows are out to get him. He has been cautiously approaching and staring at the gifts all afternoon.
so as im sitting on the phone explaining to my step- mother that i hope some day for my style to evolve into something classic like Audrey Hepburn, I'm sitting here in my jogs and a shirt that's about ten years old. I sure am on my way, aren't i?! lol
Still cute though...
it's one of those shirts that i just can't bring myself to donate, no matter how raggedy it gets.
And now back to studying for exams... but first a quick outfit post from yesterday!

A few outfits
The last week of classes is FINALLY done and now I can relax before my exams and maybe get some Christmas shopping done! I'm about halfway done so far, but some people are just so hard to shop for! But of course every aisle I go down I find something absolutely perfect for myself... I wish everyone had the same tastes as me. It would make this gifting thing so much simpler! lol maybe I should get my younger brother something shiny and pink just to see his reaction.
So now you'll have to forgive me while I play catch-up with my outfits... I'll understand if you get bored... *runs away to cry*
Worn Fri, Dec. 4th, pre-fundraiser!
Cardigan - BCBG
Tunic - Garage
Jeans - F21
Boots - Lime Light

Socks for Christmas
I don't know about anyone else, but in our family, every year you will get socks from either mom or gma. Not that I'm complaining - who doesn't like warm toasty feet? And the one year I didn't actually get socks I was so confused I kinda made a big deal out of it... so I guess its come to be like tradition. This being said, you can only have so many pairs of white sweat socks.... so may i make a few suggestions?
TopShop Pom Pom Leg Warmers ($24)

Does anyone else receive gifts that have become like tradition every christmas?

What's This?
Oh.... and just because I decided I'll be watching this tonight...
Of course with an awesome remake of the song :)
Of course with an awesome remake of the song :)
stop the madness!
I've been awful, I know. This last week has been crazy ridiculous. If I wasn't finishing one of a million papers, I was running around like a crazy person getting things ready for our fundraiser. I love my Circle K crew! We did SUCH a good job for a first major event, and considering there were 4 other events Friday night on campus, we had an awesome turnout and raised nearly $500 for Friends of Honduran Children! I guess it helps that our town is so devoted to this cause!
And now a few random pictures....This is becoming my trademark pose in random pictures i think...

Most of our crew^ (Thats the boy in the back corner and the bestie sitting to my left!)
And after a hectic week, I went home to Ottawa for an exam, and came home less than 24 hours later to the tree you will see in the next few pictures totally void of all decorations. Damn you Milo.
